Body Beautiful
Shifting cellulite and toning up your not-so-firm bits takes some effort, but there are ways to diminish dimples that will fit into your day - and budget.
Commitment Level… 10 minutes a day
If you need more lifting and shaping, exercises that target trouble spots are the way to go. A few simple exercises three to four times a week will help reduce cellulite and tone up problem areas. These exercises, devised especially for SHE by personal trainer Laura Williams, will trim and tighten where you need it most.
The thigh squeeze
Targets: Inner thighs
Also works: tops of legs
How to do it: Lie on your back with legs bent and feel flat on the floor. Put a firm cushion between your knees. Breathe in deeply then, as you breathe out, squeeze the cushion hard between your thighs and hold for a count of 10. Relax and repeat 5-10 times.
The cat arch
Targets: Lower abdominal muscles
Also works: To help mobilise your spine
How to do it: Start by kneeling on all fours with your back flat. Inhale deeply and, as you breathe out, arch your back upwards like a cat, keeping your tummy drawn in gravity. Hold for 15-20 seconds while breathing deeply. Relax and repeat three to five times.
Bottom burner
Targets: Bottom
Also works: Backs of thighs
How to do it: Lie on your front, resting your head on a towel or mat with legs turned out and feet flexed. Breathe in and, as you breathe out, lift your legs a few inches off the floor, squeezing your buttocks together as hard as you can. Keep breathing deeply and hold for a count of 20, legs still turned out and feet still flexed. Relax and repeat five times.
