Self Improvement

Cereal for dinner, dried cranberries…A quarter of the British population is on a diet at any one time. Many join the ranks of the frustrated yo-yo dieters, but some achieve the ultimate – true skinniness…

…Laura Williams is a personal trainer. She weighs 8 stone (5ft1in tall) with a size 8 top half and size 10 bottom.

When I was at school I was the chubby girl with the big thighs. So, after a spell as sales manager I trained in sport and nutrition, and now I’m a personal trainer and can spend all the time I’m not working honing my unruly body… Slimfast was misery, I was always thinking about food. Atkins made me fat. I tried a Slendertone belt and looked like someone wired up in a cardiac unit, and I’ve tried so many detoxes I’ve lost count… (Now, instead,) I exercise hard, at least five times a week, and do client workouts four times a week…It feels great for the fat school girl to now be a good swimmer, and runner. I prefer my body like this. I try to eat healthily, but I don’t deprive myself. If I want a king size Twix for lunch, I have it and revert back to healthy eating for the rest of the day. I eat beans on toast, soup and bagels, and I try to whiz up a vegetable or fruit juice during the day. If I’ve gone a bit mad and eaten too much chocolate, I try to take it a bit easy…
