Skipping meals and eating processed foods are giving more and more of us blood-sugar problems. But here’s how to keep ‘up’.
Do you often feel tired, irritable, headachy
and unable to concentrate? All these symptoms
could be caused by low blood sugar. Many doctors
and nutritionists believe the number of people
complaining of blood-sugar imbalance – where
blood sugar levels peak and fall throughout the
day instead of remaining stable – is exploding.
Indeed, one survey, carried out by online nutrition
company MyNutrition, found a staggering 92 per
cent of people who answered its questionnaire
had symptoms of blood-sugar imbalance. …Nutritional
advisor Laura Williams of Future Perfect personal
training, recommends eating foods that are rich
in nutrients essential for blood-sugar stabilisation. “Chromium
is vital in glucose metabolism and can be found
in abundance in brewer’s yeast, beef, liver
and chicken, eggs and wholemeal bread”,
she says.
